…Da giovane trascorrevo ad Assolo tutte le vacanze, per Natale per Pasqua e durante il periodo estivo. Era un'infanzia, naturalmente, molto bella. Arricchita da compagni che mi insegnavano tante cose di cui ero digiuno… Venire in paese mi dava un senso di felicità, con loro consumavo giochi, discorsi… questo mi ha maturato moltissimo e mi ha fatto capire il senso della libertà, il senso della bellezza e il senso di essere sardo. …Qui cercavo e trovavo cose che sentivo di primaria importanza, anche se probabilmente nell'Italia più evoluta erano di secondaria importanza… Sì, ho amato e prediletto la mia infanzia ad Assolo...

…In my young days I spent all my holidays in Assolo, Christmas and Easter and during the summer. It was, of course, a very beautiful childhood, enriched with friends who taught me things I knew nothing about... Coming to the village gave me a feeling of happiness, and I eagerly shared games and discussions with them… this enabled me to mature a lot and made me understand the meaning of freedom, the meaning of beauty and the meaning of being Sardinian. …I was looking for, and found, things here that I felt were of primary importance, even though they were probably of secondary importance in the more developed mainland Italy... Yes, I loved and was enormously appreciative of my childhood in Assolo…
